The Dog Collar is the one of the first two Quest Items that the player finds in Rule of Rose. It can be retrieved alongside the Boarding Pass inside Rickety Shed. Unlike the Boarding Pass, whose relevance is only exclusive to "The Little Princess," the Dog Collar becomes important later in the next chapter, "The Unlucky Cloverfield."
Description[]
During "The Little Princess" chapter, while chasing Joshua Wilson up the Strange Hill, Jennifer began to hear the sounds of a dog's barking upon reaching a fork in the dirt path. While of one of the two paths led to the Front Gate of the Orphanage, the other went to Rickety Shed in Strange Hill - East. Instead of following after Joshua, Jennifer chose to investigate Rickety Shed. All she found inside was this Dog Collar and a Boarding Pass. The Dog Collar belonged to a canine named Brown, which is later revealed to be Jennifer's pet Labrador retriever.
Purpose[]
The Dog Collar is used to allow Brown to become Jennifer's companion for the rest of the game, unlocking the Search System. It also starts a mandatory in-game tutorial on how to use the Search System, including how its mechanics factor into the gameplay throughout the Airship chapters.
