A large, heavy knife that can cut through bone.

The Meat Cleaver is a one-handed melee weapon in Rule of Rose. It is a knife used for chopping thick chunks of meat and bone. The size and thickness of the Meat Cleaver's blade, together with its ease of use, makes it the best-possible weapon among the one-handed melee weapons category.

Description[]

In the "Mermaid Princess" chapter, a Meat Cleaver and Fish Head were left on a crate inside the Lower Vertical Tail of the Airship. Jennifer and Brown visited the Lower Vertical Tail from the Sector 2 Maintenance Passageway whilst tracking the scent of a Fish Scale from the Stairway of the Sector 8 Cargo Bay. The Meat Cleaver may have been retrieved along with the Fish Head, the Fish Head leading Brown and Jennifer to the Middeck.

Characteristics[]

The Meat Cleaver is the last one-handed melee weapon that the player can obtain in a normal playthrough. It is superior to the Ice Pick that could be obtained in "The Goat Sisters" in terms of damage capability and the Steel Pipe from "Sir Peter" in terms of speed and damage capability. The speed and attack power of the Meat Cleaver are what makes this one-handed melee weapon the most ideal at fighting the Mermaid Princess boss inside the Mermaid Room at the end of the chapter. Like the rest of the one-handed melee weapons, it becomes gradually outclassed by the Shovel and Sledgehammer in terms of damage capability and the Lumberjack Axe and Rusty Sword/Knight Rapier in terms of both speed and attack power.

Trivia[]

  • The blade of the Meat Cleaver, unlike the Paring Knife and Kitchen Knife, is not coated in dried or fresh blood.
  • Its location next to the Fish Head inside the Lower Vertical Tail implies that it was probably used to chop Mr. Hoffman's pet Koi to create the gift offering of "The Mermaid Princess."
